Frequently Asked Questions
MY STAIRS ARE QUITE STEEP/ SHALLOW, WILL THE RAILING BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE THEM?
Yes. Unlike flat rails, the height of the top and bottom rail can be easily adjusted on stairs.
I’M NOT SURE IF THERE IS ENOUGH SUPPORT UNDERNEATH MY STEPS TO SUPPORT THE RAILS?
Most wooden or concrete stairs will hold the railings, however chipped, cracked or rotten stairs will cause instability in the railing. For wood stairs, it is also important to ensure that there is sufficient blocking underneath to accommodate 3-inch lag bolts.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE GLASS ON THE STAIRS?
Yes, it provides a very sleek finish for your home.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WATER GETS IN THE RAILS? WILL IT RUST?
The exterior of the rails is powder coated, meaning it will be resistance to rust and scratches. As for the interior, each rail had a water drainage hole that prevents water from staying inside, making long term rusting very minimal.
CAN YOU REMOVE MY OLD RAILING?
Removal of a pre-existing rail system as well as disposal, is possible for an additional cost depending on the size, material and the extent of surface damage from the previous system. Please speak with a sales associate for an accurate estimate for your system.
DO YOU NEED TO PRE-MEASURE MY STEPS BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE RAILING?
IS THERE A COVER FOR THE BASE PLATE?
No. All of the lag bolts used in the railing system are powder-coated to prevent rusting, as well as match the colour of the railing system. Our reason is that in the Canadian winter-time, the base plate covers may become dislodged or damaged when shoveling snow and ice. They also may become damaged if they are stepped on.
